About Us

Our History
My great-grandfather, Anthony Anibale Asti, left Italy for America in 1922 with the same aspirations as many other immigrants at that time; to find work & achieve the American Dream. After working in the coal mines of Freeport, PA & small Pennsylvania boom towns, he got a job as a delivery driver for Pittsburgh's Grennan Cakes (eventually bought by Hostess!) After learning the business, his entrepreneurial instincts pushed him to open, "Asti Bros Bakery," in Hills, PA with his brother Frank. Unfortunately like so many family owned businesses, it did not survive the great depression, but many of their recipes are survived today at Asti's Italian Steakhouse!
My Nonno was born and raised in Penn Hills, PA where he met my Nonna at a dance in Wilkinsburg. Their Italian American recipes filled their kitchen with memories of childhood trips to Italy with their parents; where the Asti's still have a home in the mountains of Torsana, Tuscany, Northern Italy.
Our Italian American menu combines our roots in the old country, as well as our love for America & the new traditions & recipes that were created by these Italian immigrants.
Imported unbleached flour, 8 hour marinara sauce, homemade meatballs & daily fresh baked bread are just a few of the traditions that we're proud to carry on. Thank you to all of our friends and customers at Asti's!
